Frequently asked questions
I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty convinced it will. If I could learn with this method, then you can too. The key is to go through the book step by step. At first, it might seem like a lot of numbers, but if you take it slow, you'll find it's quite manageable.
And don't forget: practicing at home is the key!
True, and I also learned to ride a bike at school, but you still don't see me in the Tour de France. If I had a euro for every time I heard this remark, I could have a nice meal.
But two things are important here:
- Counting like in school is like playing darts blindfolded: technically possible, but not really advisable. In school, you stack numbers under each other, and in your head, you try to do the same. But that's not fast enough. My method offers handier tricks for this.
- Of course, practice is key. But do you really want to spend months at tournaments getting those 'oops, counted wrong' looks? Or the utterly humiliating experience of being replaced as a scorer? That's demotivating. What if you could avoid that now?
My method is like a life jacket: it keeps you afloat while you learn to swim.
No, it doesn't. That was a deliberate choice to make the book truly accessible to beginners and those starting from scratch with scoring. This book is the "darts scoring for dummies," simple and straightforward. Checkout routes can be overwhelming for newcomers.
But good news: check out my e-book "Checkouts from 60 to 100: The Quick Fix," which contains more advanced information, including common checkout routes.
Who are you to write a book about this?” I sometimes hear, especially from people who know I was afraid of scoring myself. But that's exactly why I wrote this book. I was scared, tried various methods and apps at tournaments, but nothing really worked. So, I decided to develop a method myself. After a lot of practice and experimentation, a working method emerged. I wanted to share my knowledge with others who experience the same problems. This book is my way of contributing to the darts community.
Ah, free, everyone's favorite price! But unfortunately, a book doesn't just come into existence. Behind this book lies an adventure of writing, designing, and website management, all of which have their costs. I've set up a small business for the workshops, and although it's fun, money unfortunately doesn't grow on dartboards. I've considered various price points and 12.50 EUR is the sweet spot. It's a friendly price.
Think of that 12.50 EUR as an investment in your darts career, cheaper than a new set of darts and much more valuable in the long run!
I won't get rich from it, but if I can make the darts world a bit better, that's a bullseye for me!
Are there going to be workshops?
Absolutely! There are two types of workshops:
- One is in collaboration with TrainingDarts and aimed at true beginners, those who have been playing darts for less than 1.5 years. We not only throw darts but also learn how not to hit your opponent (always handy), plus some smart tips on counting up and down. Check out more information here.
- The second is a special 'Counting Up and Down' extravaganza. Think of it as two hours of learning to count, playing matches, and practicing. It’s a mix of learning, laughing, and light-hearted competition. Interested? Here's more information on the math workshops.
